Rooted in Tradition

Timeless Craftsmanship, Rooted in Tradition

In the heart of Burgundy, France—a region celebrated for its world-class cuisine and artisanal heritage—lies the quaint village of Lacanche. It’s here that the story of Lacanche French Ranges began over two centuries ago, with a dedication to quality and a passion for creating exceptional tools for the kitchen.

A Turning Point: A Legacy Revived

In the late 20th century, the Lacanche factory stood at a crossroads, its rich history and skilled artisans threatened by an uncertain future. It was André Augagneur, a former employee during the Coste-Caumartin family era, who took bold action to save it. Driven by a vision to preserve the factory and protect the livelihoods of 40 local workers, he launched an ambitious industrial project that sparked a revival. Initially focusing on subcontracted work, the factory gradually regained recognition for its craftsmanship, and demand for its professional stoves began to rise. André’s innovative approach bridged the timeless elegance of Lacanche’s traditional stoves with the cutting-edge performance of modern appliances, redefining the brand’s identity for a new generation. His efforts not only saved Lacanche but also positioned it as a beacon of culinary excellence, where heritage and innovation converge to inspire both home cooks and professional chefs alike.

This spirit of preservation and progress was carried forward by André’s son, Jean-Jacques Augagneur, who acquired the company and propelled it to new heights. Jean-Jacques’s vision honored Lacanche’s storied heritage while modernizing its offerings for a global audience. Under his leadership, Lacanche ranges became symbols of refined taste and enduring quality, gaining worldwide acclaim as heirloom pieces crafted with meticulous care. Together, André and Jean-Jacques Augagneur ensured that Lacanche’s legacy of craftsmanship would endure, with every range continuing to be handcrafted in the village of its origin—an enduring testament to the artistry and tradition that define the brand.

Lacanche Factory + Village

An Exciting New Chapter

In 2023, Lacanche joined The Groupe SEB, a global leader in cookware and small domestic appliances. This acquisition marks an exciting new chapter for Lacanche, bringing additional resources and opportunities to continue its legacy of excellence.

Jean-Jacques Augagneur remains deeply involved, now serving in a key leadership role to ensure that Lacanche’s heritage and values remain at the heart of everything we do.

Rest assured, this new partnership will not change the way we do business. Every Lacanche range will continue to be handcrafted in the village of Lacanche, honoring the same traditions, quality, and dedication that have defined us for over two centuries.
